Hunter Games v1.0.2 Delays PDF Print E-mail

Sadly, I was not able to release the 1.0.2 update to the Hunter Games mod yesterday, as I had planned to.  I whipped up a new server instance on our physical server, and quickly had it populated with 8 players, running the new plugin.  There are currently two definite show stoppers.

1. In the new HOT LAVA mode, there is a strange spawning bug that I cannot reproduce on my local server at home. People are respawning to ghost mode very soon after dying, but it's supposed to take 99 seconds (because if you make it to the survivors or burn up, you shouldn't be able to respawn at all.  You have to wait for the next race).

2. The new "hit in mid-air" feature is causing users to lag.  I'll skip the specifics to keep this post short and readable.  The short explanation is that waaaay too many weapon_fire events fire, and the number of calculations being done is off the charts.

I know what I plan to do to solve it, but it will require users to bind a key to "hg_air_attack".  This will be the key you hit when you want to try to tag someone in the air.  Primary and Secondary Fire buttons will not work for air-attacks any longer.

I am hopeful that I can get these sorted out this week.  Stay tuned for more updates.  Sorry for the delays.

Hi,
You mentioned that the mid air slash could be bound to another key. The
thing is you've already got 2 spare keys that the hunter doesn't use-flashlight
and reload. I'm not sure about other people, but I've got reload as one of my
mouse thumb keys-and even if they dont have a fancy mouse the reload key will be
in a position people will already be used to!

The would be the perfect solution, but when you're playing as a hunter, your
flashlight and reload buttons don't fire any events on the server =(, so there's
no way for me to catch it on my end. I'll have to double check for reload to be
sure, but we already tried with flashlight. That was one of our first
ideas.

Keep posting if you think of anything else though!

To get around using a key to strike in mid air one could just add hg_air_attack
to mouse1. bind mouse1 "+attack;hg_air_attack".

hi,

I was going to ask for tips on how to bind keys for 2 things. Only thing
is-is this not going to recreate the problem that the 2 keys thing was meant to
stop!

Hold on-mouse 1? Could that work?

You won't have to worry about binding anything. I've changed how air attacks
work. You hit both primary and secondary fire at the same time. No binding
neccessary.
